Well it was a long day of travel but dean and I arrived safely in Santiago , Chile. No glitches on the first leg of travel. Santiago is a city of 6+ million people and so far I have only found 2 that spoke English. Communication is something I'm usually good at but my spanish is a bit rusty. We walked a bit and hiked up a park with a sweeping vista of the Andes mountain range and the city in the valley.
There was a beautiful fountain honoring Neptune along the way. We went to the Costanero Center the tallest building in South America at 300 or so meters. You can see it in the distance in the panorama.
After a little rest we ventured out for dinner and found an area full of street cafe's called Bellavista. Chose a corner for people watching and ordered of the spanish menu with only a little clue of what we were ordering. the cerveza was cold and all was good.
Tomorrow we are off to Punta Arenas for our next stop and then on to the Frozen continent.
